Weston Town Crier 1/14/10: Celebration at end of Carbon Crunch Challenge. Participants celebrated their achievements at a final party in mid-December. Overall, 42 families reduced their electricity consumption by 13 percent during October and November, compared to 2008! A total of 12,651 kilowatt hours were saved, and new habits cultivated for a healthier planet and a stronger nation. Dorothy Dunlay of Wayland won for lowest recorded kilowatt hours, using only 140 kilowatt hours per month, while a Wellesley contender, a family of four with a plasma TV, used only 185! All were glad to have led their families in wiser ways of avoiding waste.
