Wayland residents encouraged to take part in Fix a Leak Week

Wayland Town Crier 3/15/11: Wayland residents encouraged to take part in Fix a Leak Week. The Wellhead Protection Committee announces that Fix a Leak Week is March 14 to 20.

As part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) ongoing “We’re for Water” campaign, Americans are encouraged to help put a stop to the more than 1 trillion gallons of water wasted nationwide each year.

Leaks can account for thousands of gallons of water wasted each year in the average home. The most common types of leaks include leaking toilets, dripping faucets, shower heads and other leaking valves.

In Wayland, leaks in underground sprinkler systems are also a frequent problem. Fixing leaks is easy, low cost and can save homeowners on their water bills as well as preserve our water resources for the future.
