Preview of September 6 Board of Selectmen Meeting

The Board of Selectmen will meet on Tuesday, September 6 in Town Building.

After reviewing the agenda and receiving public comment on any issue other than the response to Tropical Storm Irene, Selectmen will discuss and approve the development agreement and local initiative plan with Habitat for Humanity for the affordable housing project on Stonebridge Road.  Representatives from Habitat will be present to review their plans for housing on town-owned land that has been transferred following the vote at town meeting.  The Board will also consider the local initiative plan for marketing the single home that is part of the conservation cluster sub-division Sage Hill on Concord Road.

At approximately 7:30 p.m., Selectmen will review the town’s response to the wind damage to trees, utility poles and wires with Police Chief Bob Irving and Town Administrator Fred Turkington.  Following the presentation on the response and lessons learned for future events, Selectmen will receive public comment on any aspect of the storm response, including issues with NSTAR and other utilities.

Later in the meeting, the Board will consider the notice from Twenty Wayland to make a determination as whether the Town wishes the developer to remove the “daycare” building on the Town Center site that will be part of the municipal parcel when it begins demolition of the office building later this month.

After considering the consent calendar and reviewing correspondence, the Board will hear the weekly report of the Town Administrator featuring an update on capital projects, discussion of the status of the building project and finances for Minuteman Regional Vocational-Technical High School, consider the process for updating the town’s objective and strategies for the year beginning October 1, and preview agenda topics for the next several meetings.

Before offering their reports and concerns, Selectmen will consider appointments to boards and commissions.

The meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Selectmen’s Meeting Room.  A reminder that the next two meetings of the Board of Selectmen will be held on September 12 and 26.
