Tough sell for regional dispatch centers

Wayland Town Crier 7/1/12: Tough sell for regional dispatch centers. A new report encourages eight towns to regionalize their public safety dispatches, increasing efficiency and potentially saving money in the long-term. But police and fire officials in those towns are not sold on the idea, and several said they don’t plan to pursue the report’s proposal any further. At a presentation last month, the consensus among public safety representatives from Acton, Boxborough, Concord, Lincoln, Maynard, Sudbury, Wayland and Weston was the plan to create one or two centralized dispatch facilities would be unfeasible, said Boxborough Police Chief Warren Ryder.
