Rep. Conroy rips Senate’s ‘petty politics’

Wayland Town Crier 3/21/14: Rep. Conroy rips Senate’s ‘petty politics’. Tension between House and Senate leaders over how to proceed with legislation hiking the minimum wage and reforming the state’s unemployment insurance system erupted on Thursday as Democratic leaders engaged in a series parliamentary maneuvers that delayed the unveiling of House Speaker Robert DeLeo’s bill. A miffed Rep. Thomas Conroy, the House chairman of the Labor and Workforce Development Committee, had to cancel an executive session after State House insiders turned out to see the expected release of the House bill. The Senate diverted an extension request, preventing a committee vote on the House Democratic leadership’s plan.
