SOAR55 Volunteer Opportunities

soar55This spring share your professional skills and experience, stay connected and make a difference through SOAR 55.

If you are interested in connecting to community, feeling a sense of purpose and accomplishment, meeting new people, and using your skills and experiences in a new way, consider volunteering through SOAR 55.
Opportunities include: mentor veterans transitioning out of the military who seek second careers in the K-12 public education system; train to become a certified health leader for the Stanford University Chronic Disease Self-Management Educational Programs; provide computer support for an organization that offers accessible golf programs to individuals with physical, emotional, and cognitive challenges; recruit, train, manage and support volunteers for a nonprofit interested in creating or expanding their volunteer program; promote and prolong independent living for low-income elders and disabled individuals by assisting them with their routine financial needs; build awareness and support through marketing strategies and tactics for an organization that provides transportation to the elderly and the visually impaired; assist military members find employment and encourage employers to hire them; oversee visits between incarcerated women and their children; and much more!

SOAR 55 is a volunteer-connector organization for people aged 55 and over who would like to share their professional and experience-based skills with local public and nonprofit organizations that need help in Newton and Metro West. We offer a unique, personalized, and thoughtful approach to matching each individual with a rewarding and satisfying volunteer opportunity. SOAR 55 has over 300 volunteers serving at 80 sites in assignments that range from tutoring children, assuming leadership roles in nonprofit organizations, to management consulting. SOAR 55 is a program of Newton Community Service Center with a satellite office at the Framingham Public Library, and part of the Corporation for National & Community Service RSVP program.
