At 8:51 this morning a lightning strike destroyed the control box for the traffic signals at the intersection of Commonwealth Road and Main Street (Route #27/ 30). The intersection is now being controlled by flashing red lights and stop signs. The town’s electrical contractor is in the process of obtaining a new control box. Motorists are asked to use caution at this intersection and expect delays until the repair is completed. — Posted July 28, 2014

Update July 30, 2014: Traffic light has been temporarily fixed, “for now”. Parts on order for more permanent solution.
