lwvThe primary election is just around the corner — September 9. If you are like most residents of the Commonwealth, you are probably not familiar with the candidates despite receiving campaign literature in the mail and hearing political ads on TV.  Help is on the way—at least on the local level.  The Council on Aging and the League of Women Voters of Wayland will host a Meet and Greet the Candidates for state senate and state representative on Friday, September 5, in the senior center from9 to 10:15 am.  A continental breakfast will be served.

Wayland’s current state senator is Republican Richard Ross.  He has two Democratic opponents, Dylan Hayre from Natick and Sara Lynn Reynolds from Attleboro.  Wayland has two state representatives.  In precinct 4, Alice Peisch, Democrat, is running unopposed.  Seeking to succeed Tom Conroy in precincts 1, 2, and 3 are Democrats Carmine Gentile of Sudbury and Brian LeFort from Framingham.  Neither district has a Republican challenger.  All the candidates have been invited.

Absentee ballots for the State Primary are now available at the Town Clerk’s Office.  The last day to register to vote or change your party enrollment for the primary is Wednesday, August 20, 2014.  All census forms should be returned to the Town Clerk’s Office in order to update voter information.  Please contact the Town Clerk’s Office, 508-358-3630 if you need a census form, voter registration form, or if you want to check your voter status.
