OVERVIEW OF WAYLAND’S PROPERTY TAX RELIEF OPTIONS

Presented by the Assessors Department in partnership with the Council On Aging
Join us for coffee and an opportunity to learn more about the Massachusetts Circuit Breaker Credit including Wayland’s Circuit Breaker Match. There will also be an overview of the various exemptions (including Veterans, Legally Blind, Elderly, etc.) Learn more about Tax Deferral as an option. This presentation will be led by Ellen Brideau, Director of Assessing for Wayland. The COA will also discuss the structure of the Senior Property Tax Work-Off program. There will be an opportunity to ask questions and pick up brochures that further detail the various options.

ELDER LAW ATTORNEY DENISE YURKOFSKY Presents : “LEGAL CHECK-UP” Workshop

Elder Law Attorney Denise Yurkofsky will present an overview of the:

  1. Massachusetts and federal and state tax exemptions and requirements
  2. The probate process under the Massachusetts Uniform Probate Code and what assets need to pass through probate at your death
  3. When a trust can be useful, whether to avoid probate or for other reasons
  4. Planning for incapacity- using a durable power of attorney
  5. Health care proxies and living wills; the importance of advising your health care agent on your health care preferences
  6. Overview of long term care planning

Metrowest Legal Services offers: HEALTH CARE PROXY DAY

Appointments: 9am thru 1pm
At the Wayland COA
Attorney Vera Ochea from Metro West Legal Services will be executing Health Care Proxy Documents on site at the COA. All participants must be pre-registered and will be required to submit a completed intake form prior to their appointment. At the completion of your 15 minute appointment, walk away with a set of completed Health Care Proxy documents and extra copies for distribution. No Charge.
Intake forms available for pick-up at the COA and must be returned on or before Oct. 22 to the COA. For the 15 minute appointment on Wed., Oct. 29, call the COA 508 358 2990.
