Wayland Community Fund Expects Increased Requests for Help this Winter

The Wayland Community Fund provides financial help to Wayland residents in financial need.  Since 1998 the fund has helped almost 200 families with utility payments, rent, medical expenses, food, and many other items.  This winter we expect an increase in requests due, among other things, to NStar’s requested 29% rate increase, said WCF Chairman Mike Patterson.  Each year utility payments are among the fund’s most frequent requests.

The WCF is staffed by four volunteers and Patterson.  They receive no compensation and pay their own expenses.  Every dollar contributed to the fund goes directly to providing assistance to someone in Wayland.  The WCF receives no public funding.

More information is available on Wayland’s website.     Tax deductible contributions may be sent to the Wayland Community Fund, Wayland Town Building, 41 Cochituate Rd. Wayland, MA 01778.
