MassGeneral Hospital’s Marathon Team, Fighting Kid’s Cancer One Step at a Time, is heading back to the starting line for its 18th year of fundraising in support of the Children’s Cancer Center. Wayland resident Paul Cinco is excited and privileged to be running with the Team for a third year.
We are all too familiar with the challenges that a cancer diagnosis brings, especially to a child and their family. The funds raised through MGH’s Marathon Team play a vital role in supporting many of the programs that help children and their families cope with the illness, the treatment and the follow-on care.
Programs that benefit from the funds raised by the MGH Team include child-life specialists, wellness and long-term follow-up clinics, funds for financially struggling families, and research and development. Because public funding sources are limited and their availability on the decline, providing these important services would not be possible without the funds raised each year by the Team.
Cincotta’s daughter, Andrea, completed treatments for leukemia at MGH two years ago. Because her follow-on care will continue for many years, the MGH clinic will remain a vital connection to the team of care givers that will monitor every aspect of her well-being. His family knows firsthand the benefits of MGH’s comprehensive approach to care, both during and after treatment, and we’re committed to helping them continue their work for other families.
His fundraising goal is $37,000, which would bring his three-year fundraising total to a milestone $100,000. Donations in any amount are greatly appreciated.
