Wayland Town Crier 4/24/15: Wayland native part of a cappella champions. Wayland is home to a new champion – of collegiate a cappella!
Ever since the movie “Pitch Perfect’ came out in 2012, college a cappella (also dubbed “organized nerd singing”) has become a big deal, reaching new audiences worldwide.
But it’s no news to Waylanders. The popular a cappella concerts organized by the Creative Arts Parents Association (CAPA) have been bringing college groups to Wayland since 1996. It was also in 1996 that college groups from around the U.S. and Europe began to compete annually in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA).
