Team Eric Chase is elated at the town-wide response to the 3rd Eric Chase Blood Drive held at Wayland High School on June 20. The amazing statistics speak for themselves. Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Boston Children’s Hospital were on hand and report that 143 donors were processed, 112 units of blood were collected and at least 342 patients benefitted from the drive. Cumulative drive results from the three Eric Chase Blood Drives: 292 units of blood collected, at least 874 patients benefitted. This is a remarkable accomplishment given the population of Wayland, a source of pride for us all. Donating blood is giving the gift of life since there is no substitute and the hospitals are in desperate need. This outpouring of support by donors and the many volunteers who made this day possible celebrate the memory of Eric Chase, WHS Class of ‘08, in the most meaningful way.
