Student Privacy Rights and Data Security In Wayland Public Schools

Wayland Public Schools provides a laptop computer to every Middle School and High School student – a significant benefit. All of these computers are monitored by Wayland Public Schools,  however, and every keystroke can be recorded.  Education, health care, mental health and behavior data are also stored on School servers and computers. How is your child’s data being recorded and protected? In January, the Wayland computer network was attacked by hackers from Eastern Europe – who took complete control over systems in the Wayland Finance Office and nearly stole $4 million. Was your family’s data on the Wayland network? How is it being protected? Should you be concerned? The presenters think so, and they invite you to them for a public information session.  They are holding a public meeting at Wayland High School on Thursday, December 3, 7-9pm
