Summer Foraging Programs offered by Sudbury Valley Trustees

svtSudbury Valley Trustees (SVT) is offering two opportunities to learn about edible plants and local foraging at Stearns Farm in Framingham. On Tuesday, July 12 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Rachel Goclawski will lead a foraging walk to collect wild plants and teach how to identify, prepare, and preserve them. Participants will learn foraging safety and nutritional and medicinal value, with an emphasis on sustainable foraging. SVT and Stearns members: $10, Non-members, $20.

On Monday, July 20, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Russ Cohen will lead “Weed and Feed: Collecting and Preparing Wild Edibles.” Cohen, author of Wild Plants I Have Known…and Eaten, will share information on identification, edible portions, seasons of availability and preparation methods, along with general guidelines for safe and environmentally-responsible foraging. After gathering wild edibles, participants will visit the kitchen at Wolbach Farm to incorporate these foraged ingredients into several tasty dishes. SVT and Stearns members: $30, Non-members, $40.
