A Wayland veterinarian who has been doing volunteer work at an animal sanctuary in Thailand since 2015. Amy Shroff, who is also a biologest and animal activist, volunteers at Elephant Nature Park. The park was developed for elephants, but since floods in Bangkok in 2011, the park is now how to more than 420 dogs.

The park is also unfortunately home to thousands of ticks. As Shroff explains on her GoFundMe page, ticks in Thailand carry life threatening diseases such as Ehrlichia, Anaplasma, and Neospora. These illnesses can cause fever, bruising blood loss, vomiting, weight loss, paralysis and even death.
