Auditions will consist of readings from the script. You do not need to prepare a monologue.  Please bring a resume and headshot with you to the audition.

The Story:  Emily Stilson, a vibrant, strong, sharply intelligent woman, is suddenly felled by a major stroke.  Aided by the hospital therapist, Emily struggles to return to the person she was before her illness.

The Characters:

NOTE: The role of Emily Stilson has been cast.

We are looking for four women and four men for the following roles:

Amy: A warm and caring therapist at the hospital where Emily resides.  Amy is determined to help Emily reach her goal.  She has a special affection for Emily, but is also strict with her, testing her at every opportunity.  Ideally, Amy should be 25-40 but I am not overly concerned with the age of the actress.  I am more concerned with the connection to Emily.

Doctors and Nurses:  Two doctors and three nurses are needed.  At first, Emily’s team of medical professionals appear somewhat ominous and mysterious to her.  This will change as she begins to recover from her stroke.  These well-written roles may be anonymous but they factor heavily throughout the course of the play.  I am looking for actors who can bring them to life.  (One or two of the nurses will double as patients in the hospital for the group therapy scene).

Billy:  Another stroke patient at the hospital.  Despite his malady, he is sharp and funny, and has a bit of a crush on Amy.   I am looking for an actor who can play the age of 25-35.

Mr. Brownstein:  He is 50-70, and fancies himself a comic.  The definition of a sweet old man.   Appears in the group therapy scene, (will double as one of the doctors).

Mrs. Timmins: Perhaps 65-70.  She is a patient at the hospital and appears in the group therapy scene, (will double as one of the nurses).

AttendantIn the group therapy scene and throughout the play.  Any age and type.
