News and Events from the Wayland Library, December 1, 2016

ADVANCED 3D DESIGN WITH BLENDER II.   Thursday, December 15, 7-8:30 p.m.  Eric Carlsen and members of the Wayland High School FRC Robotics Team return to guide people who are already familiar with Blender through adding detail to models. Registration is required for this workshop and you must be familiar with Blender or have completed one of our earlier Blender Workshops.  You must be 12 or older to register on your own, but we encourage parents to register and work with their children.

INTRODUCTION TO THE IPHONE/IPAD.  Thursday, December 8, 2 p.m.  Do you have some experience with your iPhone/iPad but feel like you might be missing out on some of the basics? Come on in. M.J. will discuss organizing icons, SIRI and the microphone, battery life, and other basics of these versatile and complex devices. Be sure to bring your iPhone or iPad with you.

adult-coloring-2ADULT COLORING.  Wednesday, December 21, 2 p.m.  It’s the latest trend in relaxation!  Enjoy a peaceful hour coloring in the company of others. Pages, pencils and markers provided.  We’ll meet on the newly created meeting space on the mezzanine.

DECEMBER BOOK DISCUSSIONS FOR ADULTS.  The library runs several adult book groups, and new members are always welcome. For more information about any of the groups, call the library at 508-358-2311.

ENGLISH CONVERSATION GROUP.  Do you know someone who is learning basic English? The library’s English conversation group meets two Fridays each month from 10:30-11:30 a.m. The next sessions will be on December 16.

NEEDLEWORK/HANDWORK GROUP.  Our needlework group will meet the following dates: January 4, February 1, March 1, April 5, and May 3. All are welcome

EXHIBITS.  Artwork by Tom Risi is on display in the foyer through December.  Tom didn’t discover his artistic inclination until he retired from the construction supply business and moved to Traditions of Wayland.   He considers his work experiments in combining different and unusual media.  The Raytheon Room features photographs by the Sudbury Valley Nature Photography group.

  •  Zumba Kids Jr.  Tuesday, December 27, 10:30-11 a.m. for ages 2.5 to 4 years old

  • Drop-In Winter and Holiday Crafts.  Wednesday, December 14, 3-5 p.m.  Get in the spirit of the season and make festive winter and holiday crafts.  Ages 4 and up. 
  • Maker Lab: Color Exploration!  Wednesday, December 21, 3-4 p.m.  Put on a lab coat and enter the Maker Lab!  Join Giselle from The Learning Hub for this fourth session of our series of STEM Maker Classes.  In this session children will learn about color and decorate mugs with beautiful color washes.  Ages 5 and up.
  • Reel Time: Finding Dory,  Wednesday, December 28, 3 p.m.  Matinee at the library (popcorn included)!  A family favorite for ages 5 and up.  Rated PG, 103 minutes.
