Superintendent Search Focus Groups to run January 6 and 9

The Wayland School Committee has engaged the New England School Development Council (NESDEC) to assist them in the search process for a new Superintendent of Schools.

An integral part of the process involves parent and community participation in focus groups. The groups are designed to obtain participant input about the attributes, experience and knowledge that the new superintendent should possess. The groups also provide an opportunity for participants to identify immediate tasks that the new superintendent should address. All of this information will greatly assist the School Committee and the Screening Committee as they interview candidates.

Each focus group will be run by NESDEC and will last approximately 1 – 1 ½ hours. The schedule is as follows:

Day Time Location
Friday, January 6 9:00am School Committee Meeting Room
Monday, January 9 7:00pm Wayland Town Building (Large Hearing Room)

If you are unable to attend one of these sessions, we would be pleased to receive your comments in writing. Please direct any comments to: Dr. Carolyn Burke, NESDEC, Wayland Superintendent Search, 28 Lord Road, Marlborough, MA 01752. Additionally, there will be an online survey during the first two weeks of January where you can also give your thoughts.

The School Committee values your thoughts and opinions. We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to participate in the Superintendent search. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions.
