Report from the Wayland Community Fund

The Wayland Community fund is a volunteer organization that helps Wayland residents in financial need. Established 1997 through a bequest from Suzanne Leavitt the WCF has helped several hundred Wayland residents and provided well over $500,000 in assistance. The WCF receives no public support. It is funded, by the remainder of the Leavitt gift and by contributions from people in Wayland. The volunteers cover the organization’s expenses so that 100% of every dollar contributed goes directly toward helping Wayland residents.

At this point in its fiscal year (ten months) the WCF has provided $24,024 in assistance. Rent payments have accounted for $9,365 in expenditures; $7,291 has been spent on utility payments, and $2,168 spent on health-related bills. Other assistance has been given in a variety of areas including children items and food.

WCF brochures are available in the Wayland Town Building and the Wayland Public Library. Additional information can be found on the Town of Wayland website.
