Department of Public Works announces Watering Restrictions

In accordance with State notification requirements, the Wayland Water Division is issuing a Water Supply Status Update to inform Wayland Water Customers of current water supply conditions and resulting water use restrictions.

Effective immediately, The Water Division is upgrading its level of Nonessential Outdoor Water Use Restrictions to the following:

  • Underground sprinklers & above ground sprinklers attached to hoses: Underground and above ground sprinkler use is allowed 1 day per week. The designated day for outdoor water use is Wednesdays before 9am and after 5pm
  • Handheld Hose: Handheld hose watering is permitted after 5:00pm.

Due to low water flows on the Concord River at USGS Streamflow Gauge #01099500 (68 cubic feet per second as of 1:00pm on 8/22/17). The Wayland Water Division must institute Nonessential Outdoor Water Use Restrictions based on the Wayland Water Management Act Permit. This restriction will remain in place until the Streamflow increases to 156 cubic feet per second for 7 consecutive days or September 30th, whichever comes first.

This restriction is not based on any operational issue and is purely based on Streamflow restrictions written into Wayland’s Water Management Act Permit.
