Watch the fairies go face-to-face with the peers, battling over classic themes of love vs. the law and the law vs. justice! Iolanthe offers a beautiful score, witty lyrics, and classic satire. Iolanthe portrays a level of depth and humanity beyond most of Gilbert and Sullivan’s other operettas, beautifully blending the fantastic with the real. Iolanthe was banished from Fairyland 25 years ago but is welcomed back by the Fairy Queen and other fairies. Strephon, her son, who is half-fairy (down to the waist) is to marry Phyllis that very day, but the Lord Chancellor and peers object. If you are looking for a little magic, some humor, and a lot of humanity, you won’t want to miss this!
