Wayland Cleans Up rescheduled for Saturday, April 14

Due to either bad weather (or bad weather forecasting), Wayland Cleans Up – the annual roadside trash clean up event – was postponed to Saturday, April 14

Most of the program is still the same but there are some changes in location, so even if you’re already well informed, please read on.

You can clean up any time, anywhere. If you stop by our station at the Wayland Depot/Rail Trail (1 Cochituate Rd, across from the Library), between 10 AM and 2 PM, you can pick up free bags and gloves, instructions on how to sort trash/recycling, and directions to the places in our town that most need a clean up.
Please sort recyclables and trash (trash includes wet paper) into the separate bags. Drop off bagged “collections” at the Wayland Transfer Station (on 484 Boston Post Road) any time before 3:30 PM.The transfer station will exceptionally let you enter without a sticker and you will not require the orange PAYT bags for the trash. (Check out the Give-and-Take while you’re there!)
If you find items too large to move, such as large pieces of metal or wood, rubber tires, appliances, etc., or syringes or other hazardous materials, email us at info@transitionwayland.org with the location and we will find someone to pick it up.
Volunteers of all ages are welcome! Previous Clean Ups have seen three-year-olds and ninety-year-olds equally enthusiastic to do their bit. Wear orange or another bright color for safety and visibility. Bring sun hat, sunscreen, insect repellent.
Take selfies and share them on social media, and email them to us with your thoughts for a follow-up article in the Crier (email info@transitionwayland.org).
If the weather puts you in doubt, check www.transitionwayland.org to see if we’re on.
