Board of Public Works Approves Land Transfer to ConCom

Wayland Patch 5/16/13: Board of Public Works Approves Land Transfer to ConCom. Wayland voters decided at the recent Annual Town Meeting to authorize the Board of Public Works to return land near the Wayland Transfer Station to the control of the town’s Conservation Commission. The Board of Public Works took steps under that motion on Monday. The Town Meeting article was intended pave the way for construction of a new Department of Public Works facility at the site of the current salt shed as well as for development of an access road to that facility from Route 20 around the back of the transfer station.

Wayland Town Crier 2/3/11: Towns work together to streamline weed eradication effort. State, municipal and citizen stakeholders in Lake Cochituate have hammered out a streamlined process for residents to have invasive lake weeds pulled along their waterfront property. The conservation commissions of the three towns that surround Lake Cochituate — Wayland, Framingham, and Natick — met last week to draw up a common document that lake abutters can use to hire state-certified divers to rip up Eurasian milfoil.

After several weeks of interviewing and reviewing the resumes of candidates for several town boards, the Board of Selectmen reappointed Roger Backman to the Conservation Commission and Margery Baston and Chris Hagger to the Historic District Commission. At the same time, they named fresh faces Markey Burke, Ted Harding and Larry Kiernan to the Conservation Commission, and Kathie Steinberg and Kevin Crowley to the Historic District Commission.
