Wayland Eagle Scout improves Sedge Meadow recreation area

Wayland Town Crier 12/19/11: Wayland Eagle Scout improves Sedge Meadow recreation area. Liam Joseph Fay earned his Eagle Scout rank in Boy Scouting on Sept. 26. He completed a challenging service project last May to improve the parking lot fencing for the Sedge Meadow recreation area in Wayland. Fay led a team of 26 volunteers who spent a collective 79 hours to remove the old telephone pole-style fencing and replace it with more environmentally friendly materials. The project was sponsored by the Wayland Conservation Commission and resulted in a safer, more usable and more attractive parking lot. Fay earned 30 merit badges during his five years in Scouting. His Eagle Court of Honor was held at the Troop 1 Cochituate Scout House on Dec. 4.
