Wayland selectmen unanimously approve special liquor license

Wayland Town Crier 12/7/11: Wayland selectmen unanimously approve special liquor license. The Board of Selectmen voted unanimously on Monday night to grant a special multiple-day alcoholic beverage license for Russell’s Garden Center’s Winter Farmers’ Market to be held early next year. According to Peg Mallett, the Winter Farmers’ Market is now in its third season. The purpose of the market is to increase access to local food in Wayland and create an awareness of the availability of farm products on a year-round basis. Recent statistics from the state Department of Agricultural Resources show a 400 percent increase in winter markets throughout the state since they began in 2009, bringing the total to 30 markets. Russell’s Winter Farmers’ Market was one of a handful in that inaugural year.
