Wayland’s next Earth Day to spotlight green houses

Since Oct. 31, 2012, the Lees have 28 operational solar panels on their roof, generating an estimated 7,412 kilowatt hours per year. Last summer they signed up with the Solarize program, a joint project with Lincoln and Sudbury, which allowed them to participate in a growing renewable energy future in an economically advantageous way. They invested about $10,000 and expect a cash payback period of approximately four years. In addition to the practical advantages, they are excited to be on the cutting edge of solar power, and point out they can even track their collection rate online.
