Wayland superintendent spells out goals for school year

Wayland Town Crier 8/9/12: Wayland superintendent spells out goals for school year. Superintendent Paul Stein shared his 2012-13 goals for the Wayland Public Schools at last week’s School Committee meeting, ranging from improving fiscal operations to preparing for a new way of evaluating teachers.
Residents are welcome to provide comments on the goals to Stein (paul_stein@wayland.k12.ma.us) by August 21, with the School Committee planning to take a vote on them on August 29.

Wayland Patch 8/7/12: School Committee: 'Excellent Job' by Superintendent in His First Year. Superintendent Paul Stein took the reins at Wayland Public Schools in July 2011, and School Committee members agreed in his annual evaluation that he had done an "overall … excellent job" during his first year. The evaluation process involved Stein completing a detailed self-assessment and the School Committee following that with its own assessment under the same categories.

Wayland Town Crier 8/10/12: Wayland superintendent receives complimentary review. After just a year on the job, Superintendent Paul Stein earned complimentary reviews from the School Committee in its evaluation of his performance for the 2011-12 school year.

Marblehead interviews third superintendent hopeful

Daily Item 2/3/11: Marblehead interviews third superintendent hopeful. Wayland Assistant Superintendent Brad Crozier showed the School Committee how to make professional development pay dividends Wednesday evening. A 16-year educator, Crozier represented a departure from two previous candidates for school superintendent, veteran educators who spent most of their careers in the 20th Century. He was the town's first school superintendent to have spent most of his career in the 21st Century. The School Committee is scheduled to meet tonight at 7:30 at Marblehead High to discuss their choice for the town's next school superintendent.

School Committee Presents FY12 Budget to Finance Committee

Wayland Patch 1/26/11: School Committee Presents FY12 Budget to Finance Committee. Monday night’s School Committee meeting featured a couple of major agenda items including the selection of Dr. Paul Stein as Wayland’s next superintendent. Before members had the superintendent discussion, however, they met with the Finance Committee to present the school’s FY12 budget. This final budget presented to FinCom looked very similar to Superintendent Gary Burton’s recommended budget that he first presented to the School Committee Jan. 6, though the most recent version includes additional positions not in Burton’s original budget.

Dr. Paul Stein, currently deputy superintendent of Newton Public Schools, learned Monday night that Wayland School Committee members had chosen him as the next superintendent of Wayland Public Schools. Stein, who was driving home from a Newton School Committee meeting when he learned the news, said that his selection "means so much" both professionally and personally.

School Committee Selects Next Wayland Superintendent

Wayland Patch 1/25/11: School Committee Selects Next Wayland Superintendent. School Committee members Monday night voted 4-1 in support of entering into contract negotiations with Dr. Paul Stein to become Wayland’s next superintendent of schools. Stein, currently the deputy superintendent of Newton Public Schools, was tapped in late December as one of three finalists for the top position with Wayland schools.
