Over 100 participants in open water swim in Wayland
Wayland Town Crier 6/24/13: Over 100 participants in open water swim in Wayland. The Wayland Community Pool hosted its fifth annual open water swim on Lake Cochituate. This year’s race featured over 100 participants ranging in age from 10 to 68. The event had two different distances for the swimmers to choose from – a 3-mile course and a 1-mile course. All races started and ended at the Wayland Town Beach. A photo gallery is available online here and race results are posted here.
Wayland girls swim to fifth straight league title
Wayland Town Crier 1/29/13: Wayland girls swim to fifth straight league title. Last Friday the Wayland swimming and diving teams wrapped up their seasons against a strong Lincoln-Sudbury team. The girls team was able to finish with another hard-fought win to end its regular season at 14-0 and earn its fifth Dual County League title in a row. Despite some fantastic performances, the boys’team came up just short in a meet that came down to the final race and end its regular season an impressive 15-3.

The Heights 11/15/12: SWIMMING: Sophomore Downs Makes A Splash In Her Debut Season At BC. It has been an up and down season for the Boston College women’s swimming and diving team. The Eagles have been met with definitive success in some meets while falling short in others. Amidst the successes and shortcomings of the team, one sophomore swimmer stands out, giving a particularly outstanding performance during the New England Catholic Invite the weekend of Oct. 19 and 20. Emily Downs finished first in the 100-yard freestyle event with a time of 53.81, as well as third in both the 200-yard freestyle and 50-yard freestyle. She also contributed to a first-place finish during the 200-yard freestyle relay, helping the Eagles finish with a 1:38.88 time.

Wayland Town Crier 8/28/12: Wayland swimming and diving girls win NISCA national title.The good news arrived on the doorstep of the Wayland girls swimming and diving team recently. For the third time in program history, the Lady Warriors were named the top National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (NISCA) team for schools of 900 or less students in the entire country.
