Wayland Town Crier 7/20/12: NStar plan to cut trees angers residents in several towns. Electric energy company NStar has released what some residents, town representatives and state legislators call an “unreasonable” plan to cut down trees and vegetation in Needham, Natick, Dover and Sherborn to maintain its power lines.

State representative Denise Garlick said that, based on her knowledge of similar projects in Wayland, it could profoundly impact the “quality and nature of the town of Needham.”

Wayland Town Crier 7/20/12: NStar’s work cuts deeps, residents say. Residents and officials continued to rail against NStar on Wednesday night for clear-cutting trees near Meadowview and Oak Hill roads, hoping the utility becomes a “better neighbor” by restoring the area. Some Meadowview Road residents said during a selectmen meeting they lost as many as 30 trees on their properties in the NStar easement.

Part 1: Nstar Representatives Address Mitigation Plans. Wayland residents and officials asked plenty of questions Wednesday night as representatives from Nstar made another appearance in town related to clear-cutting under transmission lines through the Oak Hill Road and Meadowview Road neighborhoods.  The questions were largely related to how Nstar will care for the neighbors and land impacted when the utility cleared the right-of-way that runs from Framingham, through Wayland and into Sudbury; however, some confusion over Nstar’s plans to use herbicides in town also emerged.
