Metrowest Daily News 12/21/10: Finalists for Wayland school superintendent position to be revealed. On Dec. 21, Future Management Systems (FMS) will present the recommended finalists for the superintendent position to the Wayland School Committee and will plan the interview dates for these candidates. Current Superintendent Gary Burton is retiring next year after 18 years on the job. FMS recently developed a Leadership Profile Report that reflects information gathered from the Wayland community, including findings from the focus groups, telephone interviews and online survey, and represents the optimal "fit" factors desired for the leadership position. In addition, the School Committee formed a Search Committee that will be responsible for reviewing applications, conducting screening interviews, and recommending final candidates to the School Committee. Boston Globe 8/31/10: Boston Magazine ranks Massachusetts High Schools. The top 10 (in order were): Weston, Dover-Sherborn, Lexington, Wellesley Senior High, Concord-Carlisle High, Bedford High, Brookline High, Wayland High, Newton North High and Newton South High.
New principal of Wayland Middle School will start July 1
Wayland Town Crier 3/10/10: New principal of Wayland Middle School will start July 1. Superintendent Gary Burton has selected Elizabeth (Betsy) Gavron of Natick as the next principal of Wayland Middle School beginning on July 1. Gavron will replace John Kavaleski, who is retiring in June after serving as a Middle School administrator for 27 years. She met with the School Committee on Monday. From a pool of 60 candidates from 17 states, Gavron emerged as the individual who possessed the professional and personal skills and talents identified as essential for this position. Gavron is currently serving as the assistant principal of Wayland Middle School, after teaching mathematics there for 10 years, during which she also served as house leader for nine of those years.
