The WCPA presents Ab Rehab: A Guide to Postpartum Core Fitness and Recovery. Anxious to get those pre-baby abdominals back? Wondering why no matter what you do you still have a little (or big!) post-baby pooch? Learn the primary reason behind the "mummy tummy" and learn a groundbreaking set of simple exercises to help you gain flatter abs, reduced back pain and a strong core with just 20-30 minutes of exercise a day! Also learn the common abdominal exercises to absolutely avoid while pregnant or a new mom.
Pregnancy naturally separates a mother’s outermost abdominal muscles to make room for her growing uterus. Called a diastasis, this separation does not close up in most new moms. With each pregnancy this separation gets larger, which is why women show earlier with each pregnancy. The evidence-based exercises you will learn in this talk, supported by research from Columbia University Department of Physical Therapy, will help you close this separation and regain flat abs, a strong core and a strong back.
