Local women share stories of battling breast cancer

Wayland Town Crier 10/1/09: Local women share stories of battling breast cancer. When Wayland’s Susan Pope underwent a mastectomy on a Friday in early 2004, she went back to work as a state representative on Beacon Hill the following Monday. "I never missed a day of work, even with the chemo. In fact, my last chemo session was during the same week that I marched in the Fourth of July parade in Sudbury." No wonder her message to other women with breast cancer is: "They need to know that not only can they survive; they can thrive."
