Metrowest Daily News 1/27/10: MetroWest job picture beats state statistics. While Massachusetts was losing jobs, MetroWest was creating new ones. Most local communities fared better than the state average. Framingham's October unemployment rate was 6.5 percent, up from 4.1 percent the previous year. Ashland's October figure was 7.2; Franklin, 7.2; Holliston, 6.6; Hopkinton, 6.0; Hudson, 7.8; Marlborough, 6.7; Milford, 7.6; Natick, 6.1; Southborough, 6.8; and Wayland, 6.3. Massachusetts' unemployment rate was 9.4 percent last month, up from 6.4 percent in December 2008.
