Saturday and Sunday, March 13 and 14, The Nightingale, Regis College.
The Commonwealth Ballet Company of Acton and the Angel Performance Art Company of Weston will join their artistic talents to present the famous Hans Christian Andersen folk tale "The Nightingale" on Saturday and Sunday, March 13 and 14, at Regis College in Weston. With all the scenes and dancing set in the court of Imperial China and presented as a classical ballet story, Chip Morris, artistic director of the Commonwealth Ballet Company, spent many hours researching ancient Chinese court life to provide a true look and feel for the stage scenery. He also arranged the stirring music and choreographed the dance scenes, and will appear on stage throughout the show to play the role of The Prime Minister of China. Ms. Ke Ke of the Angel Performance Art Company, a noted dance director and choreographer, collaborated with Morris. Many local dancers in her Angel Dance Troupe will appear in colorful costumes and present intricate dance movements as they transport the audience back to the Emperor’s court in the ancient Kingdom of China where the Emperor discovers a beautiful singing bird (the Nightingale) in the forest and has it brought back to his palace and placed it in a golden cage to sing for his pleasure. Performances will be presented on Saturday, March 13 at 1 and 6 p.m. and on Sunday, March 14 at 1 p.m. at Regis College in Weston. Adult tickets are $22 to $28, and tickets for seniors, students and children are $20 to $26. They are available online or by telephone at 978-263-7794.
