Thursday-Saturday, March 4-13, Book of Days, Vokes Theater

The Vokes Players of Wayland will perform Lanford Wilson’s "Book of Days" at Beatrice Herford’s Vokes Theatre, Route 20, in Wayland, through March 13.  Performances are Thursday to Saturday evenings at 8pm, with a 2pm matinee on Saturday, March 6 and 13. For tickets and information call 508-358-4034 or order online.  Ticket prices are $15 for Thursday evenings and Saturday matinees, and $18 for Friday and Saturday evenings.  In this play, Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Lanford Wilson focuses on an ordinary, small Missouri town where cheese manufacturing is the main source of employment. Things are turned upside down by the death of the plant’s owner in a hunting accident.  Fashioned in a theatrical style that plays with conventions of theater and the whodunit, Wilson adeptly twists roles and relationships to craft this compelling fable of faith, customers, social norms and greed.
