Summer Plans for Pegasus
Sledding at Claypit Hill School in the middle of summer… a Pirate Cruise sailing out of Plymouth Harbor…a road trip to the Pawtucket Red Sox…an Ancient Egyptian Adventure? It’s all happening at Pegasus this summer, which will be located at Claypit Hill School. The calendar of events is filling quickly with enrichment activities, field trips, and special on-site events.
Here are the latest programming updates:
Swimming at Regis College. Children enrolled for the afternoon recreational swim will enjoy the swimming pool at Regis College’s state-of-the-art athletic complex in nearby Weston. It’s an eight-minute drive from Claypit Hill School.
Wednesday Field Trips, School Age. Field trips are planned for different age groups and trips are scheduled to places such as Tomb (Egyptian adventure), Pawtucket Red Sox, Lobster Tales in Plymouth for a Pirate Cruise, Roger Williams Zoo (RI), Trombetta’s mini-golf and ice cream (Kindergarten), and Patriot Hall (WPKN and Incredible Adventures only). More trips will be announced as soon as they are finalized.
New Elective. The Pegasus Times will be coming off the presses, so to speak, as a new elective in Journalism debuts. School age children’s daily choices will also include dance, culinary arts, music, computers, games, and arts and crafts.
Specialty Area Changes. The Incredible Adventures specialty area for Grades 3-6 is expanding and will be offered both sessions. Active outdoor adventures are in the works. Plans include a Session 2 trip to Patriot Hall at Gillette Stadium on July 27th. Incredible Adventures participants will demonstrate the interactive football exhibits while WPKN (TV Production) videographers document their experience in a segment to be called “On Location with Incredible Adventures!”
Themes and Special Fridays. Themes this summer will be: Multicultural, Olympics, Hollywood, Animals, Winter Wonderland, and Pegasus Paradise. On Fridays, there will be Animal Adventures, a Snow Day, Luau, Trip Around the World, and Olympic Games. On the “Snow Day” three tons of ice will be delivered for a day of sledding, “ice fishing,” and other cold weather activities.
New Afternoon Options. Also new this summer are two afternoon options: “Sports, Games and Physical Fitness,” and “Art in the Afternoon.” These programs are from 1 pm to 3 pm.
Parents Welcome! Parents are invited to spend time at Pegasus on the last day of each session. They can enjoy the play and slide show and join Pegasus for lunch in the cafeteria.
Professional, Caring Staff. Finally, it appears it’s not just the children who are having fun. As of now, nine out of ten of the Pegasus staff from last year say they plan to return in 2010. Likewise, enrollment patterns show sign-ups are on par with last year’s participation, which had a record enrollment of 240 students.
