Preview of Board of Selectmen Meeting for Monday, March 15

The following was submitted by Town Administrator Fred Turkington:

The next meeting of the Board of Selectmen will be held on Monday, March 15 in Town Building. After convening the meeting, selectmen will pause to recognize Marcy Crowley for 40 years of service to Wayland and to the metropolitan region. Although Marcy has relocated to Vermont to be near family and will be unable to join us, former colleagues from the regional environmental and transportation planning organizations on which she represented Wayland and other MetroWest suburbs will join Town officials and citizens to hear the reading of a certificate of recognition. We hope Marcy will follow the proceedings through WayCAM and momentos from the evening will be sent to her.

Following the recognition ceremony, members of the Surface Water Quality Committee will update the selectmen on a grant application to be filed seeking funding to conduct a nitrogen study of Dudley Pond.

At approximately 7:45 p.m., as part of the Board's efforts to meet with impacted boards and committees on Annual Town Meeting Warrant articles, selectmen will meet with petitioners and members of the Housing Authority and Housing Partnership to discuss several articles related to affordable housing – two articles would create trusts to construct or purchase housing, one article would require the town to prepare an affordable housing master plan, and another would authorize the town to sell a parcel of land on Stonebridge Road to Habitat for Humanity to construct three, 3-bedroom housing units.

After reviewing correspondence, considering the consent calendar, and discussing projected meeting agenda items for the next several meetings, the Board will consider designating a member to serve on a temporary committee monitoring the development of a recreation facility master plan.

The meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Selectmen's Meeting Room.
