W-W crew: 10 years of excellence

Wayland Town Crier 8/31/10: W-W crew: 10 years of excellence. Dave Mauer remembers the practices in the fall of 2000. There was no boat house. The few boats that were used were cast-offs from other rowing programs. There were 90 students, with one full-time volunteer coach, Ned Flint. Various other volunteer coaches helped out when they could. But Mauer and his teammates had the will to compete during that first season of Wayland-Weston crew. He and a core group of his teammates would stay with crew for all four years of high school, giving the program important continuity in its early years.
