April Vacation Week Program Details Announced; Restaurant Tour, Storytelling, Carnival Fun, and Bowling Planned

A four-day April Vacation Week program is being offered by Wayland School Community Programs from Tuesday, April 17, through Friday, April 20, 2012, at the Loker School.   The program for Wayland Public School children in Kindergarten through Grade 8 is open from 8:00 am until 6:00 pm for a daily fee of $80. Children may come for one, two, three, or four days. Enrollment is open to all students in the district. 

Program Details Announced.  Each day a schedule is posted listing activity choices, which include indoor and outdoor games, arts and crafts, nature, construction and building, science exploration, drama, music, cooking, and free play. A special event or field trip highlights each of the four days. The schedule is as follows:

Tuesday – Let’s Go to Lunch Day   
10:30 am -12:30 pm   Pizzeria Uno's in Framingham
Children will tour the kitchen, make their own pizza, and enjoy restaurant dining as a group.

Wednesday – Tell Me a Story
2:00 pm – 3:00 pm   Big Joe, the Storyteller (http://www.bigjoe.com)
Big Joe is back due to his incredible popularity at the February vacation week program. He returns with a whole new show that promises to be as entertaining and enriching as his February debut.  According to his website, Joe Pagliuca (Big Joe) feels that “storytelling is something everyone should take part in. As a result, he includes lots of opportunities for his audience to participate in the show. From different chants, to movements, to choral speaking and other types of actions, Big Joe lets students experience the stories in a whole new way.” 

Thursday – Non-Stop Fun at One Stop Fun   (http://www.onestopfun.com)
9:15 am – 12:15 pm   One Stop Fun, Westford

During April vacation week, One Stop Fun, a family fun and fitness center, celebrates the carnival. Activities on Thursday’s schedule include: Scavenger Hunt, Musical Mats, Freeze Dance, Moonwalk, Peter Pan, Indoor Playground exploration, Rock Wall, Open Gym, Games, Contests, and Prizes.
 
Friday – Bowling Bonanza  (http://www.ryanfamily.com)
9:15 am – 12 noon  Ryan Family Amusements, Millis

Ryan Family Amusements has been providing healthy family activities for more than 50 years and is an industry leader. Children will enjoy a morning of bowling in a great family entertainment center!

All necessary forms may also be downloaded from the school district’s website.  A parent letter, the special events calendar, and appropriate registration forms are available on the site.


Wayland School Community Programs operates fee-based programs offered by the Wayland Public Schools. These include the BASE (Before/After School Program), Pegasus Summer Program, The Children’s Way, World Languages, and Community Education. WSCP is also the host organization for Sudbury Valley New Horizons Music, which offers music opportunities to adults of all experience levels.
