Town of Wayland 11/6/12: Town of Wayland Election Results. Wayland voter turnout was 89.3%. The Town voted with the Democrats, and voted in favor of all three ballot questions.

Wayland Patch 9/7/12: How Wayland Voted in the Primary. Less than 10 percent of Wayland's 8,923 eligible voters headed to the polls Thursday to cast their ballots in the state primary. The 846 people who did vote, however, put their support behind the incumbent state representatives running on contested tickets in both the 13th Middlesex District, which encompasses Wayland precincts 1, 2, and 3 in addition to Sudbury and parts of Framingham and Marlborough, and the 14th Norfolk District, which is comprised of Wayland's precinct 4 as well as Weston and Wellesley. Incumbent Selectman Out, Incumbent Rec Commissioners In

Wayland Patch 4/3/12: Incumbent Selectman Out, Incumbent Rec Commissioners In. Incumbent Sue Pope lost her bid for another term on the Wayland Board of Selectmen as former selectman Doug Leard and local lawyer Ed Collins earned the most votes and captured the two seats up for grabs.

Wayland residents vote out incumbent selectman

Wayland Town Crier 4/4/12: Wayland residents vote out incumbent selectman. Voters yesterday ousted selectman and former state representative Susan Pope from the Board of Selectmen, choosing newcomers Doug Leard and Edward Collins. In a four-way race, Leard led the pack with 1,048 votes, followed by Collins with 931. Pope garnered 885 votes and Chris Brown received 782. Turnout was modest: 1,948 voters, or 21 percent of the town’s 9,008 registered voters, went to the polls.

Based on unofficial tallies, winners in today's contested elections are:

  • Board of Selectmen (three year terms):  Douglas J. Leard and Edward J. Collins
  • Housing Authority (three-year term):  Jacqueline C. Ducharme
  • Recreation Commission (three-year terms):  Thruston Wright III and Stas Gayshan

Winners in the uncontested races were:

  • School Committee (three-year terms): Malcolm L. Astley and Ellen M. Grieco
  • Board of Assessors (three-year terms): Mary R. Upton and Zachariah L. Ventress
  • Library Trustee (three-year terms): Sally Y. Cartwright and Nancy J. Jahnke
  • Planning Board (five-year term):  Kevin Francis Murphy
  • Board of Health (three-year terms):  Michael James Bean, Cynthia C. Hill
  • Board of Public Works (three-year terms) – Jonathan I. Mishara, Robert L. Goldsmith
  • Board of Public Works (one-year term) – Michael Price Lowery
  • Commissioner of Trust Funds (three-year term) – David C. D'Orlando
  • Housing Authority (five-year term) – Mary M. Antes
  • Housing Authority (two-year term) – Kevin S. Goodwin

Wayland Patch 4/3/12: Low Morning Turnout for Wayland Town Election. The 20 positions up for election in Wayland Tuesday were being decided by a very small percentage of voters as of about 11am.

Wayland Student Press Network 3/30/12: WSPN hosts debate for selectman candidates. Thursday, March 29, WSPN hosted a debate at Wayland High School for the selectman candidates. All four candidates, Chris Brown, Ed Collins, Douglas Leard and Susan Pope, participated.
