Candidate Statement:

My name is Jared Hobson, and I am running for one of the open Commissioner of Trust Fund seats. This three-person committee oversees multiple trust funds that have been established over the years through generous community donations, including two funds for the town library and one for the parks department. The committee's primary responsibility is to prudently manage these funds so that both current and future residents of Wayland can benefit from these charitable contributions. The commission meets a handful of times per year to evaluate the investments that comprise the trust funds while monitoring them on an ongoing basis.

Having been involved in the investment management field over the past decade, I have the experience to carry out the fiduciary duties of a commissioner. Moreover, I am excited for the opportunity to utilize my professional knowledge to help our community. Although only residents of Wayland since 2008, my wife, Heather, and I feel extremely fortunate to have selected Wayland to raise our two daughters. With Heather on the boards of both the Wayland Children and Parents Association and the pre-school to which we send our girls, we both feel that community service is a great way to give back to the town.
