Candidate Statement:

I’m eager to continue my service to the community as a Commissioner of the Wayland Housing Authority. The WHA is undergoing an exciting change, with the Bent Park apartments transferring to the jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and making the WHA an all-federal public housing authority. Not only will all of our housing programs be governed by the same set of administrative and accounting rules, but the WHA will be more likely to receive funding for needed capital improvements at Bent Park.

Although the Housing Authority exists primarily to administer public housing programs and provide safe and sanitary housing for low-income people, the commissioners and executive director are increasingly called upon to lend expertise and support to affordable housing proposals throughout Town. I appreciate the Town’s interest in creating more housing options for low- and moderate-income people, consistent with the Growth Policy Goals adopted by the Selectmen nearly 15 years ago. I  look forward to continuing this important work in Wayland and thank you for your vote.
