Natick board to appeal DEP decision on Lake Cochituate

Wayland Town Crier 8/16/09: Natick board to appeal DEP decision on Lake Cochituate. Upset with the Department of Environmental Protection for removing many conditions from its decision to allow herbicide in Lake Cochituate, the Conservation Commission voted last night to appeal to have the conditions restored. Last week, the DEP released a superseding order of conditions on the project, which would allow the Department of Conservation and Recreation to use diquat dibromide on five acres of the Middle Pond of Lake Cochituate around the state park’s beach and boat ramps. The chemicals are designed to kill the invasive Eurasian milfoil plants.
