Sunday, November 1, First Parish Meetinghouse Talk and Tour, 2-4pm

The meetinghouse of the First Parish in Wayland, built in 1814, is one of the most beautiful and historically interesting buildings in town.  It is the fifth meetinghouse of the congregation, which was ‘gathered’ in 1640.  Ken Sawyer, who since 1974 has been the congregation’s 29th minister, will talk about the building, the years of argument about its location, and the preceding history of the congregation and its meetinghouses.  A reception will follow on the 1814 floor of the church’s social hall, as Ken continues his tour of the building.         Host:  Dick Hoyt
