Wayland Town Crier 4/30/10: Wayland resident named finalist for Big Brother of the Year. Many kids have big brothers whom they credit for mentoring and making them who they are today. However, most kids don’t get the chance to have that childhood mentor recognized with a state-wide award. Alexis Avila of Wayland, owner of Prepped and Polished, a college counseling and tutoring business, has been selected by the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization as a finalist for the Massachusetts Big Brother of the Year Award. Among the five finalists, Avila and his “little brother” Dani are unique in that Dani is the oldest of the “littles,” underlining the fact they’ve had the longest connection.
