Finding support in Parmenter bereavement groups

Wayland Town Crier 5/14/10: Finding support in Parmenter bereavement groups. After the death of a child, that of a beloved spouse is probably the most painful bereavement one can experience. In the past, the husband or wife left behind often had immediate or extended family as well as lifelong friends and neighbors to help them cope. Today, however, with the mobility that characterizes modern American life, this is no longer the case. Support groups have sprung up instead. In our area, one of the best known bereavement programs is run by Parmenter Community Health of Wayland. According to Andrea Heinlein, Parmenter’s hospice administrator and social worker, the agency began to sponsor such support groups about 15 years ago and have been doing them fairly regularly ever since.
