Preview of Board of Selectmen Meeting for Monday, July 26, 2010

The next meeting of the Board of Selectmen will be held on Monday, July 26 in Town Building.   While the agenda includes at 7:15 p.m. a planned liquor license hearing for AprilEileen Corporation, owners of Sweet Peppers (the new Thai restaurant on Boston Post Road at the location which formerly housed Bensons II), the applicant is expected to file a notice of withdrawal prior to the beginning of the meeting.  The restaurant is re-evaluating its plans and will submit a new application in the future if it plans to pursue a beer and wine license.

At approximately 7:45 p.m., Town Moderator C. Peter R. Gossels and members of the Town Meeting Procedures Review Committee will present their final report.  Mr. Gossels will discuss implementation of some of the recommendations in his purview as Town Moderator, including the creation of an advisory committee to the Moderator on logistical matters (including electronic voting) and "comfort issues" such as seating, sounds, presentation, food and child care at town meeting, as well as his plan to create an assistant to the Moderator to assist him with logistics during town meeting.

Selectmen will also review the preliminary timeline for the fall Special Town Meeting, tentatively scheduled to be held the week of November 15-18, 2010.  Later in the meeting, selectmen will consider the consent calendar, review correspondence, and discuss agenda items for future meetings.   The Board will conclude the proceedings with an executive session to discuss pending litigation.

The meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Selectmen's Meeting Room.

Note that the next following meeting of the Board of Selectmen is scheduled to be held on Monday, August 9, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in Town Building.
