Information Meeting on Question 2, Thursday, October 14 at 7pm

The Wayland Housing Partnership, in collaboration with the Wayland Housing Authority and League of Women Voters of Wayland, Weston, and Sudbury, will hold an information meeting to discuss Massachusetts Chapter 40B, the state's affordable housing law. The meeting will be held on Thursday, October 14 at 7pm in the Senior Center of the Wayland Town Building.

Speakers will include Clarke Ziegler, Executive Director of the Massachusetts Housing Partnership; Tripp Jones, Chairman of the Committee Against Repealing the Housing Law and a Wayland resident; and a resident of a 40B development in Wayland.  Rachel Bratt, Professor in the Department of Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning at Tufts University and a Wayland resident, will moderate.

Chapter 40B was enacted in 1969 and encourages all cities and towns in the Commonwealth to provide at least 10 percent of their housing stock as affordable to low and moderate income residents.  Question 2, which is on the November 2nd ballot, asks voters to repeal this time-tested and successful statute. The information meeting will present background on this law, its record, and explain why it is a critical component of the state's housing agenda as well as its economy. The Wayland Housing Partnership urges voters to vote "NO on question 2."
