Update on Wayland High School building project

Wayland Town Crier 12/20/10: Update on Wayland High School building project. The Wayland High School Building Committee (HSBC) is scheduled to meet on Thursday, January 13 at 7pm in the Commons conference room at Wayland High.

The following is an overview by Shawmut Construction of activities for the week of Dec. 20:

The site will be closed Friday to Sunday, Dec. 24 to 26.

We plan to place concrete at the ground floor slab in Building B (Classroom Building) again on Tuesday or Wednesday; logistics and trucking will be similar to prior concrete placements. Again, concrete finishing will continue until approximately 8:30 p.m. both nights.

Other construction activities this week will be similar to last week, including exterior wall framing and sheathing, roofing, steel welding and bolting, and installation of underground utilities. The utility work will involve periodic vibration due to soil compaction equipment.

Temporary construction lighting is being shut off at night. A temporary heating system is in place at Building B and will run continually. We installed a sound baffle wall alongside the heating unit to reduce the nuisance to the neighbors. We are going to add to this baffle to further cut down on the noise. Unfortunately, the heaters must run continually to properly cure the concrete slabs.

We apologize for any inconvenience resulting from these activities.

The community is welcome at all HSBC meetings. For more information project visit our website.
